Top 4 dog walking locations

Top 4 dog walking locations

One of my favourite things to do on my weekends off is to get the dogs in the car and take them out for a lovely, long (and tiring!) walk.

Being able to let the dogs off the lead and let them run and run until their hearts are content, exploring and discovering places never been before, is one of the many perks of being a dog owner.

Over the years I've discovered many lovely places to take the dogs on a good walk that I would never have discovered if I didn't have my four-legged companions to accompany me! Here is my top 4 list:

Salcey Forrest

Salcey Forrest is my favourite location to take the dogs for a walk (I admit I may be a little biased for posting this at number 1, as it's just a 5-minute drive from home!). This place is huge, and there is a walkway which rises above the trees so you can walk amongst the tree tops and when you reach the top, offers magnificent views!

Salcey Forrest also and a play area for children and a small cafe serving food and drinks and a safe car park (don't forget to bring some coins, it's not free parking, unfortunately).

Chiltern Hills

The Chiltern Hills span across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire, but there are a few specific spots in this vast area of beauty that my dogs and I love to explore.

Ivinghoe Beacon near Leighton Buzzard is one of the highest points and certainly a challenge to scale for even the more experienced hikers! Make sure you take a bottle of water with you if you attempt this climb.

Dovestone Reservoir

Based in the Peak District National Park, this one certainly is a long drive for me coming from Buckinghamshire! But is one of those places I have very fond memories of from past bank holidays under the summers sun.

My dogs love to swim, and with a huge resevoir for them to cool down in, I know they are very fond of this place too!

Long Rock Beach

Long Rock Beach, ahhh... Where to begin with this place?! Absoultey beautiful place, and if you visit here on a summers day it's very easy to feel as though you're somewhere in the Medditeraian!

This beach is dog friendly and very popular among dog owners who travel from far and wide on Bank Holidays and long weekend breaks!

I'm always on the lookout for new places to discover and explore with the dogs, so I love to hear your favourite places to walk your dogs!
